A fantastic night for Frankston Basketball hosting a NCAA Div 1 Program at the #HouseofBlues. It really came alive with ferocious & supportive #BlueCrew behind the home team but alas they just couldn’t overcome the #GoldenBears #BearsDownUndaa
BENDIGO BANK CARRUM DOWNS Blues came out early & took it up to their more fancied opponents under the guidance of Coach Simon G. From Tip off the Blues made it clear this was a step up from the Basketball Victoria team with improved intensity & physicality unsettling the Golden Bears early on the back of some Eric Williams magic taking the Blues to 49-42 1/2 time lead – Williams was helped immensely Nate Champion (Ringwood Hawks) & home town Fav Matty Turner who was making his mark in the paint for the #BlueCrew
The #GoldenBears came out snarling in the 2nd half & only allowed the Blues 27 second half points restricting the offense whilst increasing their own efforts with a 23-7 Run that changed the games destiny – Star Freshman Jaylen Brown scored 6 of his 19 in this run & pulled the Golden Bears back & then beyond the Blues whilst Tyron Wallace had a ball of his own in the 4th scoring 8 points as the Blues shot & passing selection deserted them under the pressure .. Golden Bears by 8
The Blues Eric Williams ended with a Game High 24 whilst Matty Turner with 13 points & 7 boards provides great value .. Champion chipped in 13 also @ 67% plus 5 Boards in an impressive effort for the #BlueCrew
The Golden Bears had plenty of contributors with Brown High scoring with 19 Points, 5 Boards plus 4 Steals whilst Wallace finished with 18, Rabb 14 & Bird 13 as they steeled themselves in the 2nd half to grind out an encouraging Win!
